Hadrian, 117-138. As (Copper, 27 mm, 6.38 g, 6 h), a contemporary cast imitation, after 119. IMP CAESAR TRAIAN HADRIANVS AVG Laureate and cuirassed bust of Hadrian to right. Rev. P M TR P COS III / S - C Pax standing front, head to left, holding olive branch in her right hand and cornucopiae in her left. Cf. BMC 1269 and RIC II, 3, 674 (for prototype). Very fine.

'Limes-falsa' were contemporary casts from Roman coins that were likely produced by local authorities in times of shortage of monetary supply from the central government. Most commonly, they are cast from Severan bronzes, early pieces such as this one being quite rare.
